Privacy Policy for Marko

Last updated: April 2026

Marko ("the App") is a celestial navigation timing tool designed to mark the exact time of sextant sights. This policy explains how the App handles your data.

The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Microphone Access

The App requests access to the device microphone solely to detect the voice commands MARK and TIME. All speech recognition is performed entirely on the device using the Vosk offline speech recognition library. The App does not transmit, store, or share audio data. Note that the underlying operating system may handle microphone input independently of the App.

Data Collection

The App does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. There are no analytics, no crash reporters, no advertising SDKs, and no intentional network requests beyond the one-time download of the Vosk speech model on first launch.

Speech Model Download

On first launch the App downloads a speech recognition model (~40 MB) from alphacephei.com. After that, the App is designed to operate fully offline and makes no further network requests. The download requires an internet connection; no personal information is included in or derived from this request. For alphacephei.com's own data practices please refer to alphacephei.com/vosk.
